The BlackBerry Takes Its Final Bow
The classic BlackBerry phone you may have lying around will no longer work after Jan. 4. The company formerly known as Research In Motion says it’s no longer supporting devices running BlackBerry OS 10, 7.1 OS or earlier. This is a historic end to something that ushered in the smartphone age but was unable to compete with Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android operating systems. The company is still around but has since pivoted to working on security and enterprise software.
